New Year's Eve: Simple Decor for an Early Evening

Ah, New Year’s Eve. The promise of a new year unfolding, the excitement of possibilities unleashed into the world, the dare of whether or not I can manage to stay up past midnight…

Sadly, I lasted until 10:40pm watching Fairy Tale with Dan. But here are some of the games and decor I did. Some of which we will be doing on the 1st, instead of the 31st.

New Year’s Eve banner on the stairs. At least the cats didn’t get to it!

I found this lovely banner on Paper Trail Design and was able to print it and cut it out myself. It added a nice touch to the festivities.

When it came to games, we didn’t get a chance to do a lot of them because of my turning into a pumpkin. But we did do the New Year’s Eve Countdown Bags from Party Delights. I had to modify it slightly as I didn’t have bags or small children. Instead, I used envelopes and wrote different questions or commands inside for us to do.

The first envelope that we opened at 7am read “Practice New Year’s Eve Kiss.” The last one we opened before going to bed was “What’s a 2018 secret you want to get off your chest?” We had a good time with those. I highly recommend. It’s easy to do and inexpensive.

The gift envelopes lined up at the bottom of the TV.

Two other games I had printed and ready to go, but never got to, were New Year’s goals. So we have something to think about and look forward to over the coming year.

I used this planner printable from Zooll Graphics and another from Moritz Fine Designs to track things by month. We’re planning on doing these sometime this morning. I think it will be fun to put some ideas into perspective and plan out how we’d like the year to go.
